Bill Fraser
Atlas Oil Company
Information
- About the speaker
- Bill is the Chief Risk and Process Improvement Officer at Atlas Oil Company , a refined products wholesaler with trading operations across the hydrocarbon spectrum. He started out as a NASA engineer, working on the Space Shuttle in its early days and then went to one of the early commercial space startups. He transitioned to energy and spent ~10 years with Koch Industries in business development, investments, special projects, and structured deal origination. Next, he ran a structuring desk at Reliant Energy as well as Credit and Capital Management during the turmoil following the merchant energy sector collapse. He left Reliant to start a risk management consulting and software firm, Spectrum-Prime Solutions, which built custom ETRM software for about a dozen energy trading and marketing firms. After selling to his partners, Bill joined Ernst & Young as an Executive Director in their Commodity Trading practice, originating and leading consulting engagements with commodity trading operations, focusing on process improvements, systems implementation, governance, controls, and internal audits. He continued that both as an independent and in contracts with KPMG and other consulting firms. At Atlas, his mission is to ensure that the risk management processes and systems stay in front of the rapid growth of the firm. Bill has engineering degrees from Duke University and the University of Texas and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a native Houstonian with a 41 year marriage and 4 grown children, 2 of which are energy traders.
